AGM / Awards Update.

Good evening members.

Trophy Returns

Please can those of you with trophies awarded last year arrange for their
return with Paul Wills on 07751326611 so they can be engraved for the most
recent season.

Trophy update

The last mail sent round introduced a new set of trophies that are to be
awarded to class winners 1st-3rd across all 5 classes both surface
championships and the overall championship.

Our initial thoughts were these trophies would replace the round winner
trophies, however after further discussion we have decided to retain the
round trophies, the only change being where the same driver has won
multiple rounds, these will be consolidated into 1 trophy.

Awards Structure Change and Clarification

We have decided to re vamp the Trophy Structure with a view to increase
the number of members going home with an award! We have decided to remove
the trophies for winning individual rounds, and replace them with 2nd and
3rd class awards for both SS and USS winners. This change will be imposed
retrospectively from the start of the 2013 season, and all other trophies
remain the same.

The below minimum attendance needs to be maintained throughout at least
50% of the counting rounds in that season for the class to be eligible to
offer 2nd or 3rd place awards

•	1st place award – 3 class entries
•	2nd place award – 5 class entries
•	3rd place award – 6 class entries

For clarity, to separate competitors ending the season on even points the
following protocol is followed to distinguish the winner.
Most amount of 1st then, 2nd then,3rds, then least number of WT’s.

DUTCH BROTHERS RETAIN OVERALL and CLASS CHAMPIONSHIP TITLES

DUTCH BROTHERS

RETAIN OVERALL and CLASS

CHAMPIONSHIP TITLES

The IOW Car Club held their club championship over fifteen rounds this year. Eight of them being (SS) SEALED SURFACE and seven being (USS) UNSEALED SURFACE events. The best five results from each of the (SS) and the (USS) championships would count towards the overall club championship title.

Also the drivers best five results from the (SS) rounds would decide the (SS) championship title and likewise the best five results from the (USS) would decide the (USS) championship title.

John and Dave Dutch who saw fierce competition in 2012 to win the titles for the first time, was now put under increased competition in 2013 by many of last years drivers and some new members upping their game, which meant John and Dave had to push hard from round one and push hard they did.

However John and Dave did not have it all their own way as Ryan Munt was to take 5 event wins out of the 7 rounds on the USS event to take the USS title from John which he won in 2012.

Also Andy Williams, Toby Allen, Dan Morgan and Darren Taylor all had their eyes on the trophies this year so was also pushing hard from round 1, Resulting in the competition being intense through out the year and the titles being all decided in the last round of the SS and USS championships.

ROUND 14

BAE Systems Car Park

09-11-2013

The latest round of the Isle of Wight Car Club championship was held on Saturday at the BAE Systems car park. It was a very wet and cold day but with only one more round after this one to decide the drivers and class championship titles, the competition was getting intense as any mistakes today would put more pressure on the drivers going into the final round.

RUN 1 .. First to set the pace was Andy Williams with a time of  54.29 sec, closely followed by Dave Dutch on a 54.32 sec, then Toby Allen on 54.51 sec, then Dave Goodwin on 54.81 sec , James Robbins on 55.27 sec , John Dutch on 56.07 sec .

RUN 2 ..  Saw many more drivers picking up the pace and as a result the leader boards was changing. This time Dave Dutch put in a time of 53.33 sec and then James Robbins only on a 54.01 sec , then Dave Goodwin on 55.32 sec , then Chris Greenen and Steve Stotesbury on a 56.16 sec and then Andy Williams on 56.62 sec .

RUN 3 .. saw Toby Allen setting a new pace of 51.87 Sec for all others to follow, Steve Wells gave chase with a 52.45 sec then John Dutch on 52.83 sec , Dave Dutch on 52.94 sec , Dave Goodwin on 53.06 sec , Dean Long on 53.19 sec ..

RUN 4 .. Saw Toby Allen set a time of 51.68 sec, Hot on his heels was Dave Goodwin on a 51.71 sec then Dan Morgan on 51.89 sec , Steve Wells on 51.89 sec , Adam Greenen on 52.05 sec, Chris Greenen on 52.82 sec ..

RUN 5 .. Once again saw Toby Allen set a target time of 50.64 sec for the others to reach, Dave Dutch got close on a 51.60 sec with Steve Wells hard on their heels with a 52.00 sec , then Daniel Kozakewycz on 52.20 sec , Andy Williams on 52.62 sec , Dean Long on 53.33 sec .

It was a very close competition for all the top drivers. But Toby Allen managed a super time of 50.64 sec in his 5th run that was enough to give him the overall win.

Congratulations to Toby on a great drive and his win

ROUND 15  ( SS )

IOW COLLEGE

10/11/2013

Dave Dutch Takes his fifth overall round win

of the Sealed Surface championship and retains the SS Championship Title

Round 15 was the final round of the sealed surface championship. This saw many drivers closely following their position on the leader board as today would decide the overall championship and all the class championships titles. Also only having four runs this time would put more pressure on the drivers to get their best run times in early.

With the weather on our side, the battle commenced and first to set the pace in

RUN 1 .. Was John Dutch then Toby Allan only one hundredths of a second behind, then Adam Greenen and Ricky Sheppard.

RUN 2 .. Saw Dave Dutch set a new FTD, over four seconds ahead of his brother John’s time, but now Dan Morgan wanted part of the action and he was followed closely by Steve Wells, then Ricky Sheppard, then Kevin Richardson.

RUN 3 .. Saw Dan Morgan set a new FTD followed closely by Dave Dutch, then Steve Wells, then Toby Allen and then Ricky Sheppard, Dave Goodwin, John Dutch.

RUN 4 .. The final chance to take the FTD and it was once again Dave Dutch to set the new pace, Toby Allen chased hard but it was not enough, Toby was being pushed hard by Neil Glasbey and he was by John Dutch and Steve Glasbey, then Steve Wells.

Apart from the overall battle there were also many class battles going on…

Congratulations to Dave on a great drive and his win

ROUND 13 ( SS ) FORT STREET, SANDOWN 20-10-2013

DAVE DUTCH TAKES HIS FOURTH OVERALL WIN

A long awaited return to an old venue for the IOW Car Club. So there was much excitement for the drivers as new venues are in short supply these days, unlike the rain which was the forecast for the day. Luckily it stayed away in the morning so this meant that once again the drivers were trying to get the best times they could in the early runs because once the rain arrived the run times were not going to get any quicker.

RUN 1 .. First to set the pace was John Dutch in his mini with a time of  59.48 sec, closely followed by Dave Dutch on a 59.93 sec, then Andy Williams on 61.21 sec, Chris Greenen on 62.21 sec , Daniel Kozakewycz on 63.15 sec , Toby Allen on 63.71 sec .

RUN 2 ..  Saw many more drivers picking up the pace and as a result the leader boards was changing. This time Dave Dutch put in a time of 57.89 sec and then Dave Goodwin on a 59.33 sec , followed by Chris Greenen on a 60.03 sec , then Andy Greenen on 61.67 sec , Ricky Sheppard on 61.92 sec , Vicky Cox on 62.13 sec .

RUN 3 .. Once again saw Dave Dutch setting a new pace of 55.98 sec for all others to follow, John Dutch gave chase with a 57.89 sec , followed by Dave Goodwin on 58.41 sec , Toby Allen on 58.93 sec , Andy Greenen on 59.71 sec , Dan Morgan on 59.88 sec ..

RUN 4 .. Saw Dave Dutch set a new FTD time of 55.27 sec, hot on his heels was Toby Allen on a 56.75 sec then Dave Goodwin on 57.34 sec , John Dutch on 58.55 sec , Dean Long on 58.83 sec and finally an outstanding drive by Kevin Richardson with a time of  59.24 sec , to give him his best overall position of the season so far..

RUN 5 .. Saw heavy rain arrive with strong winds , resulting in the track flooded and  track markers and timing equipment blown over leading to the top ten on the leader board calling that it for the day knowing that there was little chance their position would change..

Congratulations to Dave on a great drive and his Fourth Overall win

Northwood Showground Round 12 USS 13-10-2013

John Dutch Wins Final Round of the

 IOWCC Unsealed Surface Championship

The weather forecast was for rain by midday and with heavy rain over night the grass field was very wet and slippery. It was most likely that the best times were going to be achieved in the first two or three runs if the rain was to arrive at midday and arrive it did ..

First to set the pace was two new day members Chris Bloomfield and Kevin Dance in there purpose built off road buggy and they were eight seconds ahead of the following bunch of drivers of Andy Williams, Dan Morgan, John Dutch, Marion Saunders..

By Run 3 and still no rain it was John Dutch setting the pace for the men and Marion Saunders for the Women in there classic Minis, both seemed to be in their element in the wet and slippery conditions..

The women drivers were having a good day as not only Marion was doing well but Jemma Western was also putting in some outstanding drives, both achieving their best results this year, 6th overall and 8th overall respectively..

By Run 4 the rain arrived and the course was turned into a mud bath and like driving on ice making it almost impossible for any one to push John Dutch off the top of the leader board and that turned out to be the case and giving John his first win of the 2013 campaign and securing him the class 5 championship title .

Congratulations to John on a great drive and his win

ROUND 11 USS 6-10-2013 PALLANCE FARM

Ryan Munt Take IOWCC Unsealed Surface Championship Title

The track although looking a bit small to many on first viewing , turned out to be a great little track with fast and slower sections in it, a good mix. The weather forecast was hot and sunny and it was needed as the grass field was wet and slippery for the first two runs but as the grass came off the surface and the sun dried it out the grip levels came up and the run times came down…

RUN 1... First to set the pace was John Dutch posting a time of 66:24 seconds closely followed by Wayne Hole with a time of 68:53 seconds and then Steve Brett with a time of 69:60 seconds , Darren Taylor with a 70:37 seconds , Danny Grist with a 70:52 seconds .

RUN 2..  Saw Andy Williams posting a blistering time of 60:94 seconds followed by Danny Grist on a 62:37 sec , then Wayne Hole with a time of 64:95 seconds , Darren Taylor with a 65:70 seconds , James Robbins with a 66:00 seconds .

RUN 3.. The track grip was now getting much better and the times were coming down fast and getting closer with Darren Taylor and Dan Morgan setting a new equal joint fastest time of 57:01 seconds with John Dutch close behind on a 58:17 seconds then Brian Robbins with a 58:50 seconds , Steve Brett with a 58:63 seconds

RUN 4..  Saw Ryan Munt come from nowhere to set a new fastest time of 53:83 seconds in his 4WD Subaru, followed by James Robbins with a 55:14 seconds , then  Andy Williams with a 55:32 , then Dan Morgan with a 55:38 seconds , then Chris Wilson with a 55:54 seconds..

RUN 5..  Saw Ryan Munt set a new fastest time that looked like a time that no one else would be able to get close to as the following five drivers were all getting in the 54 seconds band , Darren Taylor 54:27 sec , James Robbins 54:42 sec , Chris Wilson 54:64 sec , John Dutch 54:82 sec , Wayne Hole 54:91 seconds.

RUN 6.. THE final chance for everyone to get there fastest time and knock Ryan off the top of the leader board, Chris Wilson got close with a 53:55 sec , Darren Taylor with a 54:23 sec , Wayne Hole 54:46 sec , Brian Robbins 54:65 sec , John Dutch 54:71 seconds..

Congratulations to Ryan on a great drive and his win

ATHERFIELD

ROUND 10   USS   15-9-2013

Ryan Munt takes His Fourth (USS) win

A long awaited venue for many as it gave an opportunity for a large open track layout to be set out and a great track it turned out to be. The weather forecast was cloudy with possible heavy showers, thankfully the showers stayed away until the event had finished.

RUN 1 First to set the pace was Darren Taylor posting a time of 1:02:16 closely followed by John Dutch on a 1:02:33 then Wayne Hole on a 1:06:07, Kevin Richardson on a 1:07:30 and Dan Morgan on a 1:07:31.

RUN 2..  Saw every one improving there time as the track was giving more grip with the grass coming off  the surface of the field, first to set this new pace was John Dutch on a 58.34 seconds followed by Dan Morgan on a 1:00:04 then Darren Taylor on a 1:00:06 then Terry Steele on a 1:00:76 then Wayne Hole on a 1:01:76 then Toby Allen on a 1:02:17 and finally Kevin Richardson on a 1:02:49

RUN 3.. The track grip was now getting much better and the times were getting closer but John Dutch was still setting the pace with a 58.34 seconds but hard on his heels was Terry Steele with a 58.50 seconds then Wayne Hole on a 59.34 seconds then Dan Morgan on a 59.54 seconds then Darren Taylor on a 59.79 seconds and finally Matt Price on a 59.97 seconds, the only six to be under the one minute barrier..

RUN 4.. Once again saw John Dutch set the pace with a time of 56.49 seconds but Dan Morgan was chasing hard with a time of 57.23 seconds closely followed my Andy Williams on a 57.90 seconds then Terry Steele on a 58.29 seconds, then Darren Taylor on a 58.49 seconds and finally Dean Long on a 58.88 seconds….

RUN 5.. Saw Ryan Munt in his 4WD Subaru coming from nowhere to put in a stunning time of 56.27 seconds pushing John Dutch into second place overall, followed by Terry Steele with an improved time of 57.92 seconds then Dean Long on a 58.05 seconds then Wayne Hole on a 58.07 seconds and finally Darren Taylor on a 58.19 seconds…

RUN 6.. The final chance for everyone to get their fastest time and knock Ryan off the top of the leader board BUT no one could improve their times apart from Andy Williams with a 57.14 moving him into 3rd place overall and  Darren Taylor with a time 57.96 seconds..

All a bit too close for Ryan but his RUN 5 time of 56.27 seconds was enough to push John Dutch off the top of the leader board by only 0.22 of a second and give him his fourth win of the 2013 season and with only two USS rounds to go it looks like John ( the 2012 champion) will be handing over the USS Title to Ryan at the end of the year…

Congratulations to Ryan on a great drive and his win
