Round 7 this Sunday!!

Good evening members!

Just a reminder that were at a new venue to the Calendar – Little Palance Farm (no to be confused with palance farm round the corner) For round 7 this coming Sunday!

Little palance farm is in Northwood, easiest way to arrive there from Newport direction would be to take the left at Northwood garage towards Gurnard, follow the road round before taking another left down Pallance road toward the travellers Joy Inn. Once the row of houses ends after the Pub there is a concealed left hander to take putting you on Pallance Lane.

Little Palance Farm is then a few hundred yards down Pallance lane on the right hand side.

As always please try to use the online sign on @ www.iowcc.co.uk!

Hope to see you there.

ATHERFIELD, ROUND 6, USS, 19-8-2012

A long awaited venue for many as it gave an opportunity for a large open track layout to be laid  by Steve and a great track it turned out to be. The weather forecast was hot and sunny and was it hot indeed it was and it was needed as the grass field was wet and slippery for the first two runs but as the grass came off the surface and the sun dried it out the grip levels came up and the run times came down…

First to set the pace in RUN 1 was Steve Brett in his modified Mini posting a time of 1:18:58 closely followed Steve Stotesbury in his 4WD Scooby and then Dan Morgan.

RUN 2..  Saw John Dutch in his modified Mini Special post a time of 1:10:64  followed by Dan Morgan on 1:13:76 and then Darren Taylor known as the King of KNIGHT0N with a time of  1:14:61

RUN 3.. The track grip was now getting much better and the times were getting closer but John Dutch liked being for the first time on the top of the leader board and decided he was going to TRY and stay there if he could so set a time of 1:06:53 , Neil Glasbey had the same idea but posted a time of 1:08:23 but he had to worry about Dave Leppard who was only a 2 tenths behind him on a 1:08:44 who was closely followed by Darren Taylor on 1:08:73

RUN 4.. John Dutch knew the chasing pack was only going to get closer as the day went on and closer they got john posted a time of 1:05:10 but Darren Taylor was getting a bit too close on a time of 1:05:69 , Neil Glasbey was not going to be left out of this chase and posted a time of 1:06:16

RUN 5..  John  knew if  he was going to hang onto first place he was going to have to GO FLAT OUT and hope not to hit any cones on the way and that’s what he did posting a new fastest time of 1:04:04 , he was chased hard by Darren Taylor who wanted to let John know he was hard on his heels and posted a time of  1:05:04 , but now Andy Williams said don’t forget me boy’s I am coming and posted a time of 1:05:54 just pushing Neil Glasbey into 4th place posting a time 1:05:59

RUN 6.. THE final chance for everyone to get there fastest time and knock John off the top of the leader board, John knew this so he threw caution to the wind and just went for it , and it was looking good in the first half of the course until  his mini decided it had enough of his right foot being on the floor and broke a drive flange, this left John wondering if he had blown it at the last minute and allowing the chasing pack to deny him his first win of 2012 and chase they did Steve Stotesbury posted a time of 1:04:28 , Andy Williams a time of 1:04:42 and Neil Glasbey a time of 1:04:67

All a bit too close for John but his RUN 5 time of 1:04:04 was enough to give him his first win of the 2012 season

Congratulations to John on a great drive and his first win

Charity Event 12th August Northwood Show ground

On Sunday the 12th of August the IOWCC has hired out the County Show ground in Northwood. We will be running a charity Auto Test along with a few other bits and pieces to hopefully make what will be a very enjoyable day out.

For what we hope to be a great day, we need a great cause and what better than the Kissy Puppy fund for the Island girl Sophie Rolf. If you are not aware of Kissy Puppy please visit the website http://kissypuppy.co.uk/ to see what its all about and help IOWCC to raise as much money as we can on the 12th to support Sophie on her Journey.

The day is going to run very similar to any other event, however there will be a few adjustments to make the day more relaxed and encourage new drivers to have ago!

  • No championship points are available at this event
  • First car will be away 10am and we shall run up to 5pm
  • All Proceeds will be going to the Kissy Puppy Cause
  • Event fee’s will be the same as any other, but to encourage non members who haven’t competed at our events before anyone who fancies a go is able to sign up to 6 runs for £15 on the day, and starting at any point in the day – obviously the earlier you arrive the more runs you’re likely to receive.
  • To allow people to start at any point in the day, we will not require everyone to complete their runs at the same pace.
  • As per the last 2 events marshalling will be picked out of the hat, however instead of swapping after the first run, marshalls will be required at their post for 1 hour before being swapped out by the next group.

We are encouraging you to invite your friends and family to come and have a go and see what IOWCC is all about! Crash helmets will be required so if you have a spare you don’t mind lending out please bring it with you.

The course is going to be a relatively simple one, and with 13 acres available to us there shouldn’t be much to hit either!

Of course weather permitting it is expected that the field will be of acceptable standard to allow road cars round without causing any drama!

Additionally if you are able to bring someone who is happy to marshall for 2 or 3 hours we will give them a free lunch out of the burger for their efforts!

In addition to the Auto Solo we are hoping to have some rather nice Machinery on show for you all to have a nosey round, Toilets are available and of course the burger van selling food and drink all day.

For those not interested in competing in the Auto Test there is going to be a “Show and shine” meet for all the island drivers who nurture their pride and joy to drag them out of the garage and show them of to the rest of us! At around 2pm There will be a IOWCC Concourse d’elegance trophy up for grabs for the best dressed car. We will be asking for a £2 donation for the Kissy puppy cause.

If its a nice day this could be a very popular event, please remember why we are all there and drive respectfully!

Track day coming up

There is a trackday at Brands Hatch on Saturday the 1st of December, It is still early days however initial indications suggest there will be a healthy number of drivers going up to wrestle their cars round the Indy Circuit.

Vitals for the day are:

Open pit lane

105bd Noise limit

£139 plus £25 additional drivers and £10 for passengers.

We are going to try and get a group discount so if you are interested please let Toby know on fosters268@hotmail.com.
