Driver Briefing
· Welcome, location and type of event.
Rules
· Hitting a cone on the course incurs a 5 second penalty. Hitting more than one cone incurs multiples of this penalty; 2 cones hit = + 10 seconds, 3 cones = + 15 seconds etc.
· If you hit a cone in the stop box or fail to stop within the confines of the box will incur a 10 second penalty. You MUST come to a stop in the stop box. This is defined as all four wheels coming to a simultaneous state of rest within the confines of the stop box.
· Any questions or protests must be directed to the clerk of the course. Ask a marshal to direct you to the correct official.
· Scrutineering will take place as you queue up and a sticker will be applied to the vehicle once it is deemed to have passed. No vehicle will be able to run unless it has passed scrutineering. The Scutineer’s discretion is final.
· There is to be no tyre warming or wheel spinning in the non-competitive area, ie the area not defined as the course. You may be excluded
· You must wear your seat belt and an crash helmet
General Safety
· You must walk the course and attend this safety briefing each time you compete. You will be issued with a wrist band to signify that you have done both. You may not compete without a wrist band.
· Drive within your capabilities and build up. Treat the first run or two as sighting laps. This will not only help you to avoid mistakes which may lead to you damaging your car in some way, but will also help you to identify where you can improve your times during your later runs.
· Drivers beyond their limits and deliberately wrong-testing/donuting etc will be cautioned by officials – repeated offenders may be excluded at the discretion of the officials.
· If you see anything during a run which you feel is a hazard, for example spectators, children or animals that are too close to, or on, the track, any objects that were not there the last time you ran, like a component that has fallen from someone else’s car (or your own!), slow down and return to the time control. Inform the marshal who will then address the problem. You will be given your run again, penalty free. You will NOT lose your run.
· Red flags – if you see a waved red flag from a marshal you must stop your car immediately and await further instructions from the marshals. It may be that something is amiss with your car, or something else as previously mentioned.
· You must obey the instructions and directions of marshals at all times.
· Please drive sensibly when you are not engaged in timed competition. This is particularly important in the pit and paddock areas where there are people milling around and your speed should not exceed ordinary walking pace.
· Please drive sensibly when you leave the venue. We must respect the neighbours in order to protect our continued use of venues. Furthermore, when your adrenalin is high from a good day’s motorsport, it is possible to become complacent on the road. Drive carefully on the way home!
· Spectators must stay within the designated areas as specified and do as directed at the sole discretion of themarshals.
· Children must be supervised at all times.
· First aid is available at the time control.
Are there any questions?
Is there anyone who has not yet signed on? (yes, then do so immediately after the walk-round)
Also, please do sign on to do some marshaling as it really eases the workload and you get to see the course from all angles, which will no doubt improve your times.
Please now follow us as we do the walk round taking particular note of the surface and surface condition on the trickier sections of the course and we hope you all have a brilliant day!
